Key terms explained

What is a domain name?

A domain name is your website's address on the internet, for example www.yourbusiness.com. It's how people find you online.

What is hosting?

Hosting is where your website 'lives', so it's online day and night and anyone can visit it. You're essentially renting a bit of space on a computer that's always on. I arrange the hosting for you, so you don't have to give it a second thought.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is the software used to build and manage your website. You can easily add pages, text, images and updates without any programming.

What is Elementor?

Elementor is an extension to WordPress that lets you build a website visually, by dragging elements into place and styling each one separately. I use it to shape your site exactly the way you want, down to the details.

What are plugins?

Plugins are small extensions that add extra features to your WordPress website, without any programming. Think of a contact form, a booking calendar or extra security. I only choose and install the plugins your website really needs, and keep them up to date.

Who it's for, and what it costs

Who do you build websites for?

I build websites for helping professionals: coaches, therapists, psychologists and related professions. Often people who aren't technical themselves and simply want a beautiful, professional site without the hassle.

But if you do something completely different, you're very welcome too!

What does a website cost?

I work with three fixed packages: Starter (€399) for a one-page website, Carefree (€799) for a complete website of up to 5 pages and Carefree + (€1,199) for up to 10 pages. Every package includes the first year of domain name, hosting and professional email.

Am I tied into anything?

No. Your website is and remains yours. You're not tied into anything, and you can take your website to another provider at any time.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, you can. Just let me know during a no-obligation chat.

I'm happy to work out a payment plan that suits you, so a good website is within your reach too.

How we work together

What does working together look like?

In short: we start with a no-obligation chat. If we decide to work together, we then discuss in detail what you want and how your website should look.

I help you with structure, clarity and layout so it looks professional. Then I make a design, which you approve before I start building. We refine it together until you're happy, and then your website goes live.

How long before my website is online?

Starter websites can be ready within about 1 week after you've sent your content.

Carefree and Carefree + websites usually take longer (a few weeks), depending on the number of pages and feedback rounds.

Do I need any technical knowledge?

Not at all. Most people I help aren't technical themselves, and they don't need to be. I take the technical side completely off your hands and, where needed, explain everything in plain language.

What you provide

What do I need to provide for my website?

You provide the texts, images and any branding (logos, colours). Don't worry if you're not sure how, I'll help you with that.

Can you help me write or improve my texts?

You provide the texts, and I put them on your website. I'll advise you on how to make them easy to read and well organised. I'm not a copywriter, but together we'll get there!

What if I don't have any images or photos?

No photos? I can advise you where to find free stock photos and help place them nicely on your website. A lot is also possible with AI these days.

My advice, though, is to use real photos as much as possible.

Technology and security

Do I need to know anything about hosting or domains?

Not at all! I arrange your domain name, hosting and professional email: all in one place. You only need to focus on the content.

Can I keep my existing domain name and email?

Absolutely! Already have a domain name or email address? Then we can keep using them, so you don't lose anything and keep your familiar address. I'll handle the switch for you and make sure your website and email keep working.

Will my website work on phones and tablets?

Absolutely! All the websites I build are mobile-friendly and look good on phone, tablet and desktop.

Is my website secure?

Yes, I apply all the relevant security measures so your website is as well protected as possible.

All websites have an SSL certificate (https://) for a secure connection, included with the hosting. There's also automatic virus and malware scanning, and your site has a firewall, so everything stays well protected.

WordPress and all the necessary software and plugins are also updated automatically, and I check daily for new security risks.

Use of AI

Do you use AI to build my website?

I use AI as a tool, for example to develop ideas, brainstorm or solve new technical problems.

I make the design and the choices together with you, tailored to who you are. I then use AI to quickly turn those ideas into examples that I show you before I start building.

AI helps me work more accurately and better, so the chance of mistakes is much smaller.

Can't I just have AI build a website for me?

You can indeed easily have AI design a website for you. In my experience, the result often looks generic: every AI model has a certain style it applies by default. If you want a website that's truly your own, AI isn't very good at that.

Then there's the technical side: how do you host the site, how do you secure it, and how do you make sure everything complies with privacy law? There's much more to it than you might think, and it takes quite a bit of technical knowledge.

The question is: do you really want to deal with all that?

What happens to my website if I choose an AI platform?

With many AI website builders, you build your site on their platform, and then you're tied to it. You usually can't simply take your website to another provider. And if the platform raises its prices, changes direction or shuts down, you have little say in it.

I work with WordPress, an open system that always stays in your own hands. Your website is and remains yours, with the freedom to go wherever you like.

Extra options

What is SEO/GEO and do I need it?

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) helps search engines like Google understand your website and services. Unfortunately, SEO no longer guarantees a top position in search results. I make sure a basic level of SEO is in place so your site is properly indexed.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) optimises for AI models such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude. This is a completely new development. I make sure your website is clear, so AI models can read it well too.

Can you also add a webshop, online calendar or newsletter?

Yes, you can. Think of a booking calendar, a newsletter sign-up form or a simple webshop.

Can I also get a Dutch or multilingual website?

Yes, you can. I build both English and Dutch websites, and a multilingual site (for example English and Dutch side by side) is also possible. Tell me during a no-obligation chat what you need, and we'll look at the options together.

Once your website is live

What if I want changes after my website is live?

Carefree websites come with 1 month of aftercare after launch. Carefree + websites get 3 months of aftercare. This covers small adjustments and any questions you have.

Can I update my website myself later?

Yes, of course, if you'd like to. You'll get your own login so you can work on your website yourself.

I also offer to do this for you at a very competitive rate of €60 per hour, with Website Help.

If you choose the Full Service package after the first year, you get 6 hours of support per year anyway, for example for changes, questions or guidance.

What do I pay after the first year?

The first year is included with every package: domain name, hosting, email, updates and technical support. After that, you choose from two follow-up packages, billed annually.

With Online & Secure (€29.50 per month), everything stays taken care of: domain, hosting, email, updates, daily backups and technical support.

With Full Service (€49.50 per month), you also get 6 hours of support per year, for example for changes, questions or guidance. On top of that, you get €10 off per hour for any extra changes I make to your website for you.

Can I expand or change my website later?

Yes! You can always add extra pages and change things later. I'm happy to help with Website Help, at a very competitive rate of €60 per hour.

What happens if I want to switch hosting later?

That's always possible. I make sure you have everything you need to move your website safely and smoothly to a new hosting environment.

Extra services

Do you also offer maintenance or management for existing websites?

Yes. You can move your website and email to me and choose from two follow-up packages, billed annually.

With Online & Secure (€29.50 per month), everything stays taken care of: hosting, email, updates, daily backups and technical support.

Only need occasional help with your website? Then you can hire me by the hour with Website Help (€60 per hour).

Can you help improve or take over my current website?

If it's a WordPress site built with Elementor, definitely. You don't necessarily have to start over.

Is your current site not running well, does it look dated, or do you simply want someone to take over the management? With Website Help I can help with a redesign, changes, solving technical problems or an audit with advice (€60 per hour, no subscription). To take over the management, I offer two follow-up packages.

We'll look together at what your site needs. And if it's a bigger project, you'll get a custom quote from me.

Can you teach me how to work with WordPress/Elementor myself?

Yes, I can. With Website Help I guide you one-to-one online, so you can work on your website yourself afterwards (€60 per hour).

If you choose Full Service after the first year, you can also use your 6 hours per year for this.
